Rules & Regulations
Jurying and Acceptance
All entries will be reviewed by the designated juror. Selection is based on artistic merit and the overall quality of the exhibition. The juror's decisions are final. The Hoyt Arts Center reserves the right to decline any artwork that does not meet the published requirements, or that differs materially from the images submitted.
Originality and Ownership
By entering, artists certify that the submitted artwork is their original creation, that they own or control the necessary rights to exhibit it, and that its exhibition and authorized reproduction will not infringe upon the rights of others. AI generated and/or AI assisted work will be excluded.
Presentation and Installation
All accepted artwork must arrive in exhibition-ready condition. The Hoyt reserves the right to refuse artwork that is improperly prepared, structurally unsound, damaged, or unsafe to display. The Hoyt will determine the placement and installation of accepted artwork.
Exhibition Commitment
Accepted artwork must remain at the Hoyt for the duration of the exhibition. No substitutions or early withdrawals will be permitted without prior written approval.
Sales
Artwork designated for sale will be offered at the price established by the artist. The Hoyt will retain a 30% commission on sales completed through the exhibition. Artists will receive the remaining 70%, subject to applicable taxes and agreed transaction terms. Artwork sold during the exhibition will remain on display until the exhibition closes unless otherwise authorized.
Photography and Publicity
Artists retain copyright to their work. By entering, artists grant the Hoyt Arts Center a nonexclusive, royalty-free license to photograph and reproduce images of submitted and accepted artwork for purposes related to the competition, exhibition promotion, educational programming, publicity, and institutional archives, with artist credit whenever practical. This permission does not transfer copyright or authorize unrelated commercial merchandise.
Care and Liability
While the Hoyt will exercise reasonable care in handling and exhibiting accepted artwork, the Hoyt Arts Center is not responsible for damage, loss or theft.
Delivery and Retrieval
Artists are responsible for all costs associated with delivering and retrieving their artwork, including shipping, packing, and insurance in transit. Artwork must be delivered and retrieved during the designated periods. Unclaimed artwork will become the property of the Hoyt Arts Center after 30 days, unless alternative arrangements have been made in writing.
Agreement to Terms
Submission of an entry constitutes the artist's acknowledgment and acceptance of the competition rules and exhibition terms.
