Visiting Us
The main entrance is located in the center of the glass walkway at the front of our property. From the drop-off area near the "Welcome" mural, follow the brick path and signage to our main entrance.
Yes! We welcome children in our galleries, on tour in the Period House, and at our many classes and special events. Explore as a family with children's gallery guides, a Period House scavenger hunt, or try a hands-on class. Learn more.
- Hoyt East (main galleries and classrooms) is fully accessible via ramps and elevators, with accessible restrooms located on each floor.
- The ground floor of the Period House is also accessible. Please note: due to the historic architecture of the Period House, the second floor is accessible only by stairs. Please contact us for assistance or alternative tour options at 724-652-3204 or accessibility@hoytartcenter.org.
- A manual wheelchair is available at the Welcome Desk for complimentary use on a first-come, first-served basis.

Free on-street parking is available on Leasure Avenue, Blaine Street and Winter Avenue surrounding our Center. Accessible parking spots are located on Leasure Avenue next to the main entrance walkway. Our passenger drop-off zone also is available for direct access to the front entrance.

We are located in New Castle's North Hill Historic District – approximately one hour north of Pittsburgh, 1.5 hours south of Erie, and just two hours from Cleveland, Ohio.
Gallery admission is always free. Drop in anytime during open hours – no tickets needed.
Tours of the Period House cost $10 for individuals and $25 for families of three or more. Period House admission is free for Hoyt members.
You do not need a reservation to visit our galleries or take a self-guided tour of the Period House. However, advance reservations are required for guided tours of the Period House or to sign up for any of our classes and workshops.
The Hoyt Arts Center is open during the following hours:
- Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday: 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.
- Friday & Saturday: 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Our center is closed on Sundays, Mondays, and national holidays. The last tours of the day are admitted one hour prior to closing.
Classes & Workshops
Yes, we offer full and partial scholarships for our classes, workshops, and camps. Support is available for children, families, and adults of all ages. Learn more about our Financial Assistance Program.
We offer private music lessons.
A supply list will be provided if necessary.
Most of our classes are beginner friendly. If prior experience is needed it will be clearly stated in the class description and titled “advanced”.
We offer artmaking workshops, music lessons, and hands-on classes for all ages and skill levels. Led by supportive teaching artists, classes range from drawing and painting to ceramics and stained glass. We also offer summer camps and after-school programs designed for busy families.

Events
Events held inside are accessible. Outdoor events are held on grass and may not be accessible to all wheelchair users.
Yes. Most events require registration or RSVPs.
We offer a mix of free, low cost, and ticketed events. See event descriptions for admission costs.
Artists
We are continually building our collections. If you are interested in making a tax-deductible contribution, contact our Collections Director at rpresnar@hoytartcenter.org or 724-652-2882, ext. 113, to learn about guidelines for contributing artwork to our collection.
We offer several opportunities throughout the year to apply for our Juried, Solo & Group, and Members-only art shows. Find application dates and details here.
