Public Art Program
The Hoyt is expanding opportunities for public art throughout Lawrence County!
We believe art belongs everywhere - not just inside museums and galleries. Our Public Art Program helps bring creative, community-centered projects to parks, downtowns, neighborhoods, and other public spaces, making art more accessible while celebrating the unique character of the places we call home.
Whether you're a municipality, nonprofit organization, artist, or volunteer, we invite you to help us create vibrant public spaces that inspire connection, creativity, and community pride.
Public Art Project Support
The Hoyt partners with nonprofit organizations and municipalities in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, to develop and install public art projects in publicly accessible spaces.
Our goal is to make public art projects more achievable by providing both expertise and financial support. Assistance may include:
- Project planning and budget development
- Guidance in developing the artistic vision
- Drafting and issuing artist Requests for Proposals (RFPs)
- Templates for artist contracts and press releases
- Financial support for eligible projects
The Hoyt may provide funding for up to 50% of total project costs, with awards of up to $10,000.00. Matching funds are required. Funding is awarded directly to the applicant organization upon successful completion of the project.
Eligible Applicants: Nonprofit organizations and municipalities located in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania.
Calling Public Artists
The Hoyt is building a roster of artists interested in creating public art throughout Lawrence County.Artists with experience in murals, sculpture, mosaics, installations, and other forms of public art are encouraged to submit a résumé and portfolio. This roster helps connect artists with organizations seeking qualified partners for future public art projects.

Volunteer with Public Art
The Hoyt also maintains our existing public art installations, including our annual street murals, and we're always looking for volunteers to lend a hand.
Volunteering is a great way to support the arts, learn about public art projects, and gain valuable hands-on experience. For emerging artists, it's an excellent opportunity to build skills, contribute to meaningful community projects, and strengthen a professional résumé while working alongside experienced artists and volunteers.
